Principles of Language Assessment
This chapter
about how to prepare a good test and how to measure a test. There are five
principles given in this chapter for good test. It was Practically,
Reliability, Validity, Authenticity and Wash back. There five principles are
important for good test. There principles are useful for how to design a good
test 7 how to implement a test.
Practically :-
Practically was the relation between
available resources for the test and time limit. Test depended upon resources
material which and required in designing, developing.
Reliability :-
Reliability was consistency and
dependable for the test. Reliability was two groups of student given the same
test in different factors. Then test results were similar.
Validity :-
Validity was actually measures
reading ability and writing ability. Validity test depended upon time, reading
resources, material and writing skill. Validity is measured in content
validity, contract validity, consequential validity and face validity.
Authenticity :-
Authenticity test in language is as
natural as possible, items are as contextualized as possible and topics are
interesting, relevant and meaningful. Tasks replicate real world.
Wash back :-
Teachers can provide information that
“Wash back”. Wash back also includes the effects of an assessment on teaching
& learning prior to the assessment itself’ That is, on preparation for the assessment.
